Casa Carrillo Endure Corona Gorda pairs a rich Meerapfel Cameroon wrapper—Ernesto Perez-Carrillo’s first use of Cameroon in decades—with select Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. Launched exclusively by Two Guys Smoke Shop as part of their 40th Anniversary, this limited 6″ x 46 Corona Gorda expands the Endure line with a refined, small-ring-gauge expression.
The cigar presents a dark, oily wrapper with a rugged, rustic character. Light leather tones show through the toothy Meerapfel leaf, and the box-pressed shape is firm and densely packed.
The opening draws bring a pleasant oakiness, backed by pepper and coffee. Soon, sweeter layers develop: vanilla, chocolate brownie with walnut edges, dark cherry, and fig. A touch of saltiness appears alongside cinnamon and a banana-nut-bread richness, adding depth to the first third.
Pepper pulls back slightly but remains present. A savory note of charred steak cooked over wood emerges, followed by bitter baker’s chocolate. The profile shifts toward coffee and hazelnuts as the sweetness tapers off. Graham cracker and licorice intertwine with buttered toast, while a fine dusting of floral-cyan pepper brings a unique aromatic accent.
Pepper returns with more intensity as baking spices and cloves lead the final act. Hickory wood develops near the finish, joining chocolate chips, coffee, subtle salt, and gentle floral tones for a layered, lingering conclusion.
A very enjoyable cigar with notable complexity and smooth transitions, especially for a smaller ring gauge. The flavors weave in and out gracefully, creating an engaging, well-balanced smoke with a satisfying interplay of sweet and salty elements. While draw and smoke output were consistently good, some reviewers reported mixed experiences with strength and construction, which influenced the overall consensus. Nonetheless, this is a rewarding cigar and a strong entry in the Endure line.
