Packaging & Design
These cigars arrive to us in wooden 24 count boxes. The packaging of this stands out quite well, using a color scheme of primarily white with accents of red and bright gold. The large bands are made of heavy stock paper with a big gold LFD logo front and center over a small banner that shows the blend name.

First Impressions
Holding the cigar in the hand, you’ll notice it’s heft. This LFD is rolled beautifully showing no signs of flaws. It’s Ecuadorian wrapper shows off a bit of sheen in the light. Not to mention it has a velvety smooth feel to it. After cutting with my trusty Colibri, the prelight draw shows off a caramel sweetness with a backbone of cedar.

The Smoke
I toasted the foot with the new Vertigo Equalizer, a high-tech looking quad jet torch. Initially, notes of red cedar and earth become apparent. As those tastes fade, the finish offers nuances of molasses and cream. A nice start.

During the second third, the body increases slightly and gives off notes of blonde roasted coffee side by side with hints of citrus and nutmeg. This is an interesting combination and not typical of LFD’s style. However, it’s a great change up.

Finishing up and this cigar goes full tilt in the flavor department. The tasting notes have stayed mostly the same since the halfway point, but they have become far more intense. The body is still in the mild-medium range, which is impressive considering the complexity it’s adopted.

Final Thoughts
I’m a big fan of this blend from LFD. As I said, this is a good change up from what they usually produce. These would make for a great morning smoke with a cup of coffee, or an after work treat with a stiff bourbon. The choice is yours to experiment with.
