Drew Estate Unveils Drew Diplomat Event Cigar

Drew Estate announced today the launch of the Drew Diplomat Event Series, an event tour that makes stops across the United States at Drew Diplomat Retailers.  The final stop of this tour will take place on August 6, 2016 at the second annual Connecticut Barn Smoker, held on the same Connecticut River Valley farm that produces the wrapper for Drew Estate’s Liga Privada No. 9 and Liga Privada T52 cigars.

The Liga Privada Unico Serie Velvet Rat is presented in a 6 ¼ x 46 Lonsdale vitola, featuring the iconic fan tail featured on many Unico Serie Cigars. The cigar features a Connecticut Broadleaf “High” Mediums Wrapper, with a Plantation Sungrown Brazilian Mata Fina Binder and filler leaves from Nicaragua and Honduras. In total, 5,000 Velvet Rats were produced in January 2015, and have since been at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate aging in the companies cold rooms. The cigar was previously released in October of 2012 at Tesa Cigars, limited to 100 bundles of 10, and at the first annual Connecticut River Valley Barnsmoker last August.

From Jonathan Drew’s Wynwood Safe House, he stated that, “fellowship is at the cornerstone of Drew culture, and now that we are over 5,000 members on DIPS, we wanted to do something extra-ordinary for you guys.  Over the last five years, peeps keep asking about snagging some Velvets. With this momentous Diplomat achievement, we wanted to get ya’ll something bangin.

Drew Estate fans who are members of the Drew Diplomat Mobile App Program will also be eligible to receive an exclusive Liga Privada Unico Serie Velvet Rat when they make a qualifying promotional purchase at a Drew Estate event in Drew Diplomat Retailers between now and August 6, 2016, while supplies last. The Drew Diplomat mobile application launched on June 3, 2016 and is available on the App Store for iPhone® and iPod Touch® and on Google Play™ for Android™.

Jessi Flores, Director of Subculture Studios, dedicated a commemorative graffiti mural at De la Esquina de los Bancos media cuadra al Oeste in Esteli, Nicaragua, in honor of the first 5,000 Drew Diplomat Members.

Jessi, also known as ‘Victims‘, under his street art alias, mentioned that, “This mural is a process that is going to take the summer to complete. We started off with the Diplomat logo and added our unique techniques. We are dropping a Velvet Rat on the wall to compliment the Guardabarranco, the bird that represents our Country. We are proud to see Nicaragua play such a pivotal role in the Diplomat program.”

President of Drew Estate, Michael Cellucci stated. “One of the main goals of creating Drew Diplomat was to connect our Drew Estate final consumers to the Retailers who have stood behind our premium cigars for so many years. Now, with the “Drew Diplomat Rewards Program” we are truly effective from both the on-line and in-store avenues.  It’s a fun and effective approach to show appreciation to the Drew Estate extended family.
