Law | Cedar Rapids, IA Moves Closer To Park Smoking Ban

Over the last few months the Cedar RapidsĀ Parks, Waterways and Recreation Commission has discussed a ban for city parks, trails and recreational venues including the city’s four golf courses. On Tuesday such a ban was approved by the Commission by a 9-0 vote. The ban now has to be approved by the City Council.

There is some good news as the original language called for a $100 fine and jail time while the final ban approval was reduced to a $50 fine and no jail time. But let’s face it, no ban would be best.

There is currently no set timetable for when the City Council might consider such a ban.
