Law | Santa Clara County, CA Looking To Raise Tobacco Age

Instead of asking, do you know the way to San Jose, smokers should be asking do you know the way out of San Jose. Santa Clara County which includes San Jose is looking to raise the legal age to purchase tobacco from 18 to 21. This is on top of proposals that banned flavored tobacco in the county.

The measure will be introduced at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting and if the measure is adopted they would become the second county in the state to enact such a law.

The move comes on the heels of California looking to raise the statewide smoking age though according to Santa Clara County supervisor Ken Yeager the measure is not expected to pass on that level.
