22N / 83W Corona Extra Cigar Review

When you have a crazy busy work morning, sometimes you forget the important things in life such as a cigar. While I am blessed that I get to smoke at work, sometimes I get so caught up in the work flow. Today was such a day, where at 1:29pm my co-worker Crazy Pete put down a cigar for me to light up next to a cup of Cuban Coffee. Today we offer that cigar for review.

Cigar Review: 22N / 83W
Wrapper: Brazilian Corojo
Binder: Costa Rica
Filler: Nicaragua, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Honduras
Length: 5.5″
Ring Gauge: 46
Size: Corona Extra

The Look: The cigars come packaged in cabinet style boxes, and inside the cigars are in a wheel of twenty held in place with a ribbon and then wrapped in tissue paper. The cigar has some thin veins and subtle tooth it. The band features a compass and the brand name 22N / 83W. In the hand the cigar is firm with a nice weight to it and a well packed foot.

The Notes: Once the cigar is cut there is a note that reminds me a bit of spicy mustard with a touch of earth on the cold draw . Off the foot of the stick there is some cedar and nuts present as well.  After the cigar is lit, the initial note is some corojo spice as expected.

As we move into the first third of the cigar there is a subtle saltiness to the cigar that takes control of the palate for about the first quarter-inch. As the saltiness pulls back there is some nuts and cedar that the provide the base coat for your palate. The retrohale sees some black pepper notes that also lingers on the finish.

In the second third the nuttiness becomes more of an afterthought. The dominant notes are coffee with hints of cedar. There is still some saltiness on the front end and a bit of honey mustard liners on the finish.

In the last third the nuts return with walnuts as the dominant taste with cedar and pepper easily defined as well. On the finish some honey mustard lingers on the lengtyh finish of the cigar which is extremely enjoyable with a woodsy aroma.

The Finish: Finding a great box of cigars for under $100 can be difficult, but the 22N / 83W provides an experience that is worth more than the price of admission. The Brazilian wrapper creates an epic flavor profile making this one of my favorite value cigars on the market today.

Score: 92
