Cigar Review: Casa Fernandez Miami Aniversario Perfecto
Wrapper: Corojo ’99 (Nicaragua)
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 6.25″
Ring Gauge: 52
Size: Perfecto

The Look: Packaged in sleek looking white boxes, the 10 cigars are each laid out in their own groove. The perfecto shape cigar features wax paper with the Casa Fernandez Miami logo, and a white and silver cigar band. The Corojo ’99 wrapper has a reddish-brown hue and a few small veins. in the and the cigar is firm with no soft spots.

The Notes: The cold draw of the Anniversario has notes of red pepper, nutmeg and a touch of cedar. The aroma off the foot of the cigar has a subtle chocolate like sweetness. Once the cigar is lit, the first notes are a warm spice on the palate and red pepper on the nose.

The first third sees the spices as the primary note, but as we smoke further into the first third there are subtle notes of chocolate and cedar that begin to develop along with some dried apricots that I find really enjoyable. Through the nose the cigar serves up some cinnamon and oak notes.

The second third sees notes of dried apricots become the dominant flavor profile. There is still a touch of cedar present as well. Through the nose there is an abundance of pepper and a hint of chocolate sweetness on the finish which grows in length.

The last third sees notes of wheat develop with cedar being the dominant flavor profile. The dried apricots of the first two-thirds is on the finish of the cigar which has become quite lengthy.

The Finish: Having a whole line rolled by one person isn’t something done often, and it says a lot about the skill of the person picked to roll the cigar. The notes of the cigar are sweet and for me this is the perfect cigar to end the summer on. With that said, I smoked 2, and plan to sit on the other 8 from my box for a few months to see how it changes.

Score: 91
