On the March 30th episode of The Cigar Authority we will be welcoming to the show Terence Reilly, vice-president of Aganorsa Leaf as he is in town for a series of events at Two Guys Smoke Shop. To close out 2018, The Cigar Authority named the Aganorsa Leaf Connecticut Cigar of the Year. Today we review a cigar that is available only at events, and we will let you know our thoughts of this dark cigar and if it worth seeking out. It is made in Miami in small batches exclusively for Aganorsa Leaf Events.
Cigar Review: Aganorsa Leaf Event Only Cigar

The Look: The first thing that catches your eye is the exceptionally dark wrapper that adorns the Event Only cigar from Aganorsa Leaf. The round cigar is hefty in weight and the San Andres wrapper is flawless. The cigar also features a well packed foot.
The Notes: Once we clip the cap, the cigar offers off up notes of chocolate with a hint of leather and spice on the cold draw. The aroma off the cold draw has a hearty amount of spice with a subtle sweetness in the background. After we take a fair amount of time toasting this larger ring gauge we are treated to notes of toasted marshmallow.
Moving into the first third of the Event Only Aganorsa I can’t help but think of s’mores. The cigar has hints of dark chocolate and graham with some continued toasted marshmallow notes that develop rather quickly as I am not even a half-inch into the cigar. As we near the end of the first third those notes pull back considerably as the cigar develops a earthy note that becomes dominant. The retrohale offers up an abundance of wasabi with a hint of cocoa after the initial nostril burn.
The second third sees the earthy notes remain dominant with the addition of warm chocolate and a subtle caramel sweetness that lingers on the finish. The retrohale continues to serve up eye watering wasabi with hints of cocoa as the spicy wasabi dissipates.
As the cigar comes to a close some espresso notes join the mix with a hint of cocoa and continued earthy components. The wasabi remains on the finish where it still has a subtle sweetness after the spice fades.
The Finish: For me there is always some special when the cigar is made is the USA since it has become a rarity. This San Andres cigar is loaded with flavor and a nice amount of perceived strength that leaves me wanting another. It’s definitely a nice addition to the humidor and creates an experience that is different that the Aganorsa porfolio has to offer. Perhaps it’s the Aganorsa binder and fillers, but the work incredibly well this flawless wrapper.
