Law | Wilmington, DE Smoking Ban To Be Decided Tonight *UPDATE*

On Thursday Night, October 2nd the Wilmington city county will convene with the purpose of making a decision on banning smoking at covered bus stops and city parks. Law | Bernalillo County Housing Authority Smoke Free

The Bernalillo County Housing Authority in New Mexico is going smoke free. The county housing department manages 75 public housing units including 54 units for the elderly and 21 for the elderly. The center of the county is Albuquerque. In order to sign a lease potential residents have to sign a nonsmoking clause before moving into or renewing a lease to live in the public housing apartments. Law | Petersburg, AK Voting On Tobacco Increase

The state of Alaska comes in has having one of the highest tobacco taxes in the country at 75%. Now a local community, Petersburg wants residents to vote on a localized tobacco tax that would be 45% of the wholesale price on cigars. The ordinance 2014-17 will be voted on by residents of Petersburg on October 7th, 2014. Petersburg, Alaska is home to 3,000 residents over 46 square miles and was founded in 1910.

Law | Milford, CT One Step Closer To Smoking Ban`

The city of Milford, Connecticut has begun the process to ban smoking in public. At the monthly meeting at the Milford Recreation Commission the process was put in motion for what the city leaders claim is a health and litter issue. The city of Milford is looking to ban smoke at parks, playgrounds, beaches and city sponsored events. Milford is home to 53,000 residents over 26.14 square miles and was founded in 1639.

Law | Hull, MA Raises Tobacco Age

Wayland, MA wasn’t the only community in Massachusetts to raise the age of purchasing tobacco to 21 last night, as Hull, MA joined the movement. The board of health unanimously approved the change at a meeting on Tuesday. The approval of age change makes them the 33rd community in the state where you must be 21 years old.
