As an added twist, Davidoff/Camacho Master Blenders have amplified the original Camacho Ecuador with the addition of Pennsylvania Broadleaf n in Pennsylvania. According to Davidoff/Camacho, “The introduction of these Broadleaf tobaccos greatly intensifies the aromas and increases overall palette stimulation, while the box-pressing delivers a noticeably longer and cooler smoke with enhanced mouth feel.”

The Look: Packaged in an eye catching black and teal box, the Camacho Ecuador BxP sports a darker wrapper then the original release, although this is hidden as the cigars come packaged in tubes which are visually stunning. The cigar is firm to the touch with no voids of tobacco and a well packed foot.
The Notes: The cold draw serves up a distinct note of anise and a taste that reminds me of a biscotti with a subtle hint of lemon rind. The aroma off the foot has more biscotti sweetness with some subtle tobacco aromas.
Once we toast and light the Camacho Ecuador BXP Toro the initial notes are chocolate and earth with the later dissipating rather quickly. Moving further into the first third notes of crushed red pepper and cedar begin to emerge with the retrohale offering up a subtle sweetness and a strong earthy component appearing on the lingering finish.
As we smoke the second third coffee, earth and chocolate compete with each other harmoniously. Around the halfway point, coffee emerges victorious with chocolate a close second. As we past the half way point a hint of gingerbread joins the mix that lingers on the palate while the retrohale continues to remain abundantly earth.
Moving into the last third I nub the cigar which remains cool and rich in flavors right until the end. The chocolate notes remain with a subtle hint of red pepper. The finish on the palate sees the chocolate notes intensified, while the retrohale sees earth and red pepper enhanced.
The Finish: When the original Camacho Ecuador came out, I found myself smoking the on the regular but with time they fell off my radar. The BxP version takes this cigar to the next level. While there isn’t a lot of changes over the cigar, the notes hit right in my wheelhouse and it is definitely box worth.
