Premium Cigar Language Survives Challenge In FY17

Today the House Appropriations Committee held a full committee mark-up to move the Agriculture Appropriations bill to the next phase of the legislative process. This bill contains important language that would exempt premium cigars from FDA regulation. During the committee meeting, an amendment was offered by Rep. Facebook Begins Shutting Down Cigar Groups

Last night social media giant Facebook began enforcing their TOS and started shutting down groups that promote the private sale tobacco products including cigars. The most noticeable group was the ultra popular Cigar Cartel, but also included were CHAOS, Havana Hideaway and Cigar Syndicate. Language To Change Predicate Date To Be Inserted in FY17

Agriculture Appropriations Bill FY17 Clears First Hurdle

According to Kip Talley of the IPCPR, the House Agriculture Appropriations bill passed its subcommittee hearing and the language to protect premium cigars remained intact. The bill will now move to a full committee hearing as it works it way into law.
