Cigar Spotlight: Garofalo Maduro

This week’s Cigar Spotlight video features the Garofalo Maduro, a cigar created for Mr. David Garofalo by Nick Perdomo in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Cigar: Garofalo Maduro
Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Power: 7 / 10
Sizes, Robusto 5×50, Toro 6×50, Churchill 7×50, Torpedo 6×54

The Garofalo brand previously only came in one wrapper shade, which was Connecticut. After years and years of consumer demand, the line was extended to include Sun Grown and Maduro versions to please the masses. Garofalo came to fruition when Nick Perdomo surprised David on his 50th birthday with a selection of cigars that showcased his name. These cigars arrive in boxes of 20 and are totally hand made at Tabaclera Perdomo in Esteli, Nicaragua.

The first third of this cigar offers nuances of black pepper and earth backed by a subtle chocolate note that lingers on the finish. Construction is top notch, as is everything that comes to us from the Perdomo Factory. The draw is perfect, offering just enough resistance to give off mouthloads of smoke with every pull.

The second third becomes fuller in body and adds a new dimension of flavor, bringing a bouquet of citrus and rye while maintaining a solid backbone of pepper and earth. Each puff seems to change slightly more than the last, making for an interesting smoke.

Finishing up, you will notice a bold and leathery mouthfeel which balances out it’s sweet and spicy expressions. The more the cigar heats up, the deeper the experience gets. Because of it’s great construction, you can easily smoke Garofalo to the nub with no worries.

Depending on the size you choose, each offers something a little different, but adheres to the idea of the core blend. There’s a reason why the Garofalo family of cigars is one of United Cigar Group’s best sellers. I recommend to you it’s time to find out why.
