Rocky Patel Vintage 2006 Churchill Cigar Review

There was a debate last week about Rocky Patel cigars on a popular Facebook group with basically a person asking if Rocky Patel cigars were over-rated and over hyped. Needless to say many people who buy into some of the social media hype surrounding cigars that make up a very small total of our industry didn’t buy into Rocky Patel. While not every blend is a winner, the Vintage 2006 is one of them. If […]

PreRelease Hammer + Sickle Berlin Wall Box Pressed Churchill Cigar Review

Over the last couple of months I’ve had the opportunity to smoke today’s cigar numerous times. The Cigar Authority offices are a short drive from the home office of Hammer + Sickle and as a result we often get to smoke with Eric Hanson (CEO) and Erik Wentworth (National Sales Manger). We’ve long been a fan of the Berlin Wall, and recently we’ve been able to smoke a lot of the Berlin Wall Box Pressed […]

Rocky Patel Vintage 2006 San Andreas Churchill Review

When The Cigar Authority returned from the 2017 IPCPR we had a lot of samples to smoke through, and a lot of questions from our friends about what we liked in terms of the full releases we smoked. My answer was always the same, “I don’t put any stock into trade show samples.” When pressed for an explanation, my answer was simple that the travel of the cigars from humid, to arid, back to humid […]

Garofalo Connecticut Churchill Cigar Review

Oh what a difference a few years make. When I first moved to New Hampshire the slightest threat of snow would have me under my covers and now wanting to leave the house. Now in the midst of my 3rd winter in New England, the weather calling for 11″ of snow was met with a hearty laugh. However, when I got into work my co-worker said, “what the hell are you doing here, you […]

Review | Garofalo

In July, I reviewed the Garofalo Toro but as it is the eve of Thanksgiving I wanted to review a cigar that I could tie into the holiday. I am not a fan of Thanksgiving having lost my father on the holiday many years ago. Less than a year ago my mom passed away and I left the city that I love, Miami. Not a day goes past that I don’t miss some special people […]

Cigar Review | La Verite 2009

Over 6 years ago Pete Johnson announced that he would be incorporating an idea from the wine industry. The idea, was to incorporate tobacco from one farm of one vintage into a cigar. The La Verite 2009 was rolled in 2010 and release in 2011. This changed the aging process as instead of aging in bales, the tobacco has aged in the form of a cigar. This 2009 La Verite was limited to 30,000 cigars. […]
