Back in 2004 Rocky Patel released a cigar called, The Edge. Back then the cigar was packaged naked in 100 count boxes. There was no cello, and no cigar band. Having owned my own shop back then I remember, I was unable to keep this cigar in stock. We quickly grew to biggest retailer in the region for this cigar going through multiple boxes in the course of a week. So much so that Rocky […]

Balmoral Cigars comes to us from Royal Agio who has been in the business since the early 1900’s. Last Call comes to us from AJ Fernandez, and the cigar which is made in small viola’s is designed for the first cigar in the morning with a cup of coffee, or as the last cigar of the evening after an enjoyable dinner. For me, it’s the Last Call before I head out on vacation this weekend. Don’t worry though we will still have some cigar reviews next week as I will be re-posting some of […]
This past weekend on The Cigar Authority we spoke with Jonathan Carney about all things La Flor Dominicana. While the spotlight has been put on the LFD Andalusian Bull I decided to light up a cigar that the spotlight needs to go back on, La Nox. The cigar was blended by Tony Gomez, the son of Litto Gomez and it is the cigar that changed things up for the Miami based, La Flor Dominicana. I […]
If the FDA has their way I will really miss the release of the Limited Edition, as today’s limited edition and many limited edition cigars don’t meet the predicate date as it stands. In the end it hurts the cigar industry as a whole, but as a consumer I would suffer the greatest loss because much to a retailers dismay, I want what is new. Today’s cigar is new in the sense that it is […]
A few weeks ago, someone asked me if I would consider posting a review of a cigar we plan to smoking on the podcast the day before it airs. They asked because they wanted to be able to smoke along with the review. It was an interesting idea, so I figure I will run with it the next few weeks and see how it works out and if there is any feedback that backs this individuals […]
Leaf by Oscar is a creation by one of the most colorful men in the Cigar Business, Island Jim. During a factory trip with some regulars from his shop in Pittsburgh; Leaf & Bean he got to meet Oscar Valladeras at Rocky Patel. Oscar who now owns his own factory in Danli, Hondurus made some test blends for Jim and he asked Oscar to wrap the cigar in a tobacco leaf. Confused at first as […]
Aladino Cigars come to us from JRE Tobacco which is a family centered company, founded by Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo M. Eiroa whom happen to be the father and brother of Christian Eiroa. The cigars come from their crop to shop operation in Honduras, and for those old enough to remember the original Camacho brand, it is not difficult to see the similarity. Cigar Review: Aladino Wrapper: Honduran Corojo Binder: Honduran Corojo Filler: Honduran Corojo Length: 6″ […]
In 2016 at the InterTabac trade show in Dortmund, Germany Padron showcased two new sizes in the 1964 Anniversary line. Those sizes named Soberano and Presidente were available in the usual Natural or Maduro wrapper. However, it wasn’t the new sizes that caught everyone’s eye, it was the aluminum tubes that the cigars were packaged in. Today we review the Soberano which translates to Sovereign. It’s not the first time a cigar came in a […]
