Cigar Review | Montecristo Edmundo (Cuba)

I was posed the question the other day, asking how come we haven’t reviewed any Cuban cigars on The Cigar Authority. At first I answered the question with the fact that they aren’t available in the United States, but I was pointed to the fact that our readership is global. So with that said I was given a Montecristo Edmundo to review, let’s see how the cigar fairs to my American palate. Cigar: Montecristo Size: 5.3 x […]

Editorial – Dave’s Trip To Cuba (Legally) – The Conclusion

Day 6 and “The Shocking Conclusion” We all packed our bags in the morning (included would be my $100 worth of legal Cuban Cigars and alcohol combined) had my last Cuban Coffee in Cuba and 2 more cigars before we got ready to Hurry-Up and Wait! This is what I hate most about traveling, especially out of the country and even more so to and from Cuba. They want you there 5 hours early and […]

Editorial | Dave’s Trip To Cuba (Legally) – Day Four

Yesterday, Imperial Tobacco issued their earning report which showed a decrease of 7% in tobacco revenue. But one item of note was a reference to the tobacco harvested in Cuba. According to the report, the poor leaf harvest will affect the supplies of both Cohiba and Montecristo Cigars. These cigars also happen to be the most counterfeited cigars in the world. The company also announced that it will be cutting 540 jobs.

Cigar Review: Montecristo Espada

The latest cigar from Altadis USA is the Monecristo Espada. All the tobacco used in this blend comes from the farms of Nestor Plasencia in Nicaragua. The Espada is a collaboration between Plasencia and the Altadis blending team, known as the Grupo de Maestros. The cigars come packaged in 10 count Suede boxes and the word Espada means sword which is a reference to the rapier found on the Montecristo logo. The tobaccos come from Esteli, Jalapa and Ometepe.
