When I first got into the cigar business in the early part of 2000, I was approached by a cigar rep who was pitching the greatest cigar to hit the market in years. It was here that Glenn Gutin showed me cigars made by a roller from Cuban who was now in the United States trying to make his way into the market after the cigar book. That person was Don Pepin Garcia, and the […]

Three years ago, Illusione oversaw its production of the Ultra line at the Raices Cubana factory in Honduras. Recently the brand moved its production to Nicaragua and the TABSA factory. According to published reports this was done for logistical reasons, but one has to wonder if it had to do with quality control issues that plagued the original factory. According to the Illusione website, “llusione ULTRA is a true connoisseur’s blend. Decadent and rich, this […]

I am about to head down a road that could get me in some serious trouble. At times I have the ability to mean well and not properly string together the right words that could be taken as being negative. Today I review the cigar that Cigar Aficionado deemed The Cigar of the Year for 2015. The Le Bijou was released in 2009 at the IPCPR in New Orleans and came one year after the original My […]
The Neanderthal was first mentioned by RoMa Craft in 2014, but it wouldn’t see a release until 2015. There was a 4″ version called SGP that was limited to two cigar shops in Texas; and a production line called the HN. Today we look at the 5″ version that contains 6 different filler tobaccos including an exceptionally strong variant of Double Ligero from Pennsylvania known as Green River Valley Sucker One. According to the guys at Romacraft the […]
Ortsac San Andres is an extension of the original Ortsac 1962 that was one of the top lines for Cigar Agency back in the day. Since Cigar Agency, Victor Vitale has moved on to Tortuga, but one can never forget their roots. According to Two Guys Smoke Shop, ORTSAC (Castro spelled backwards), is a cigar that directly targets old Cuban Cigars. It’s mission is to dispel the old myth that Cubans are the best cigars, […]

It’s a little bit cryptic but the Tatuaje Gran Cojonu comes from a box with a manufacturer stamp date of 2013 making this smoke 2 years aged. The Gran Cojonu is part of the Reserva line and according to the Tatuaje website the cigar is still made in Miami, Florida. Cigar Review: Tatuaje Gran Cojonu Size: 6.5 x 60 Wrapper: Ecuador Habano Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua Strength: Full […]
