Agriculture Appropriations Bill FY17 Clears First Hurdle

According to Kip Talley of the IPCPR, the House Agriculture Appropriations bill passed its subcommittee hearing and the language to protect premium cigars remained intact. The bill will now move to a full committee hearing as it works it way into law. Law | Minnesota Rep. Proposes Premium Cigar Tax Cut

A proposal by Republican Representative Jim Nash in the state of Minnesota would significantly reduce taxes on premium cigars. The state held a hearing yesterday not he proposal, which will continue into today. Currently the tax in Minnesota on premium cigars is 95 percent of the wholesale cost, up to a total of $3.50. Two Guys Smoke Shop has been announcing The Cigar of the Year on Superbowl Sunday for 20 years now, since they made their first announcement back in 1993, announcing the 1992 Cigar of the Year.
