Two Guys Smoke Shop Celebrated 31 Years With Epic Event!

On the evening of September 28th, 2016 Two Guys Smoke Shop celebrated 31 Years in business with an event that was simply the greatest extravaganza I have been a part of in my 18 years in the industry. With all due respect to many retailers I consider myself personal friends with, their cookie cutter events just don’t hold up to the showmanship of David Garofalo.

Let us forget that he is my boss, and let us note I am choosing to write this story because of how incredible a night was had, not only by the manufacturers and customers of Two Guys Smoke Shop, but also by this blogger who did not write about the event last year.

500 cigar smokers converged on DiBurro’s in Haverhill, Massachusetts for a night called Let’s Make A Smoking Deal. After the doors opened, the stage was set with custom-made cabinets containing dart boards of 12 manufactures. Upon entering each person received a lanyard with a manufacturer logo and a number on it and soon 11 teams of 30 would be eliminated from cash and prizes. The evening began with Dave’s mother opening the first cabinet and eliminating Team My Father who then eliminated Padron cigars resulting in a joking “Fuck You Jose Ortega” from Jorge Padron. Which it turns out isn’t the first time he said fuck you to someone at a public event and I hope to get to that great story on the show tomorrow.

Other teams eliminated were Aging Room, Byron, CLE, Davidoff, Hammer + Sickle, JC Newman, La Flor Dominicana, Perdomo and Recluse. The one lone team to remain at the end of the elimination was Team Rocky Patel represented by local rep Max Bichler.

After a short recess and a fine Italian meal served family style at each table, the stage was set with 31 balloons. While there were 30 members of Team Rocky Patel, one person was able to get back into the show via a raffle.

With Chuck Morrison serving as the announcer for the show, and David Garofalo serving as Monty Hall one by one numbers 1 through 31 were chosen and as a person was called they picked a balloon of their choice. Then the fun began as Dave tried to buy the ballon back or the customer would choose to go with the prize. With clunkers like an electric football game, and collector’s items like a 1989 Playboy pinball table, it was a lot of fun that was accentuated with the descriptions of each prize that left many in stitches

At the end of the night, Dave went through the audience and asked some of the big winers if they wanted to trade in their prize for door #1, #2 or #3. And in true Let’s Make A Deal Fashion one of those doors contained a clunker of Cigaropoly and a comic book. But fret not, that comic book was stuffed with a large sum of cash meaning the big winners went home happy just like all of those in attendance including myself.

I can’t wait to see what the 32nd Anniversary brings to the table…
