Law | Westchester County, NY Looking at Raising Tobacco Age

On Tuesday, the Community Services Committee of the Westchester County Board of Legislators voted in favor of raising the smoking age in the county from 18 to 21. The move was voted on after hearing from the American Lung Association and American Cancer Society. Law | West Virginia Senate Passes Smoking Exemption

The West Virginia Senate voted on Wednesday to pass Senate Bill 109, which would allow certain establishments to become exempt from indoor smoking bans if they obtain permission from their country commission. The bill passed  22-12 led by Senator Craig Blair, a Republican from Berkeley who swayed the chamber’s opinion when he pointed out that several members of the Senate were smokers. Law | Connecticut Senator Wants To Ban Platform Smoking

Democrat Senator William Tong of Connecticut wants to make it illegal for you to continue smoking that cigar you might have lit up in your car while waiting for the train.  According to IPCPR, a bill was introduced in the January session and is now set for a hearing today. Law | Supreme Court Gives Cuba Trademark Victory

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene a long-running battle between General Cigar and Cubatobaco. The battle has been ongoing over the Cohiba trademark. In refusing to hear an appeal by General Cigar Company the Supreme Court left intact a ruling in favor of Cubantobaco made in  June by the U.S Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
