La Flor Dominicana has begun shipping the LFD Reserva Especial. As they arrive in stores, some store owners and consumers might be a tad confused once the box is opened.
The cigar which is available in 9 sizes, includes a size called Belicoso measuring 5.5 x 52. However, the cigar is a traditional parejo size that has resulted in phone calls to VP of Sales for LFD, Jonathan Carney asking if the factory made a mistake when packaging the boxes.
According to Carney, when the cigar was first released in 1997, Litto Gomez liked the name so much, he chose to give the name to one of the sizes. Unbeknownst to him at the time was the fact that Belicoso is an actual shape. As the cigar reaches retailers with its new packaging and logo’s they decided to keep the size as it was when originally released.
So to answer the question of When is a Belicoso, not a Belicoso? Simply, when the cigar is part of the La Flor Dominicana Reserva Especial portfolio.
