Cigar Reviews

The Wayfarer 109 by Serino Cigars

Some people would call me a cigar snob and some people would call me names I rather not type here. Hell, I’m sure our own Mr. Jonathan is mumbling a few of them under his breath. Anyway, the point is every now and there is a cigar that comes out that I believe is here for the long haul. But for whatever reason it takes a while to catch on or it doesn’t get the […]

Brick House Robusto Cigar Review

Today on The Cigar Authority we were joined by Eric Newman of JC Newman Cigar Company. As has become custom on Saturday, right after the show we post an in depth review of one of the cigars we smoked. While we normally reserve that for a part of the care package, today that was not the case. Due to 5 Saturday’s in the month of June we had an extra week as the Care Package […]

Julius Caeser 1895 Perfecto Cigar Review

With Eric Newman coming on the show this weekend as a guest, I decided to look at a cigar that is exclusive to Diamond Crown Lounges, the Julius Caesar 1895 Perfecto. It’s one of my favorite sizes for a smoke and today we weigh in with our thoughts. According to the JC Newman website, “Diamond Crown Julius Caeser honors Julius Caeser (“J.C.”) Newman, a true cigar pioneer and founder of the J.C. Newman Cigar Company. […]

My Father Connecticut Robusto Cigar Review

When you think of My Father Cigars you don’t think of Connecticut wrapped cigars. As a result, today’s cigar is often overlooked on retailers shelves or the company portfolio. I smoked it when it first came out in 2014, but can’t recall smoking since. So today I reached on to the shelf and pulled a couple out for review here on The Cigar Authority. Cigar: My Father Connecticut Wrapper: Ecuador Connecticut Binder: Nicaragua Corojo ’99 Filler: Nicaragua (Habano, Criollo) […]

Mi Querida Firecracker Two Guys Smoke Shop Exclusive Cigar Review

This year the Firecracker release comes from Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. It’s based off the Mi Querida blend and according to a conversation with Steve Saka, the cigar is front loaded with ligero tobacco for an extra kick giving it an explosive start. This version of the Firecracker follows up versions from My Father Cigars, Tatuaje (M80), La Flor Dominicana, RoMaCraft and Fratello. There is also an ongoing regular release of the Firecracker […]

Le Careme Robusto Cigar Review

One thing is for certain, the back story for brand names for cigars from Crowned Heads are certainly different. We’ve seen cigars named for a piece of art that is synonymous with the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, a cigar that draws its name from the band Kings of Leon, a cigar that pulls from Johnny Cash and now a cigar that is inspired by French Cuisine. La Carême is named after Marie Antoine Carême, a chef who […]

Abel Exposito Gordo Cigar Review

Abel Exposito is a name known to Cuban cigar smokers as he once headed up the Partagas Cigar Factory. Today’s cigar review bears his name and they are made by Fidel Olivas in Esteli, Nicaragua. If that name is familiar, Fidel Olivas headed up Latin Cigars S.A. factory with the Torano family before it was sold to ST Group in 2009. Cigar Review: Abel Exposito Wrapper: Ecuador Habano Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua Length: 5″ Ring Gauge: 50 Size: Gordo (Robusto) The Look: Packaged in white […]

Camacho Liberty Series 2005 Throwback Cigar Review

There is a saying that says, what’s old is new again and that is the case here. The Camacho Liberty 2005 blend makes its return in its original 11/18 Figurado format. Inspired by the original packaging, the Liberty 2005 Throwback cigars are showcased in 20 alternating red and white coffins patriotically covered with a stunning lid of a framed American flag. Due to the rarity of tobaccos needed to precisely match the original blend, only 30,000 […]

Hermitage No. 1 Toro Cigar Review

Today on The Cigar Authority we smoked the Hermitage No. 1 as we remembered our friend Eric Hanson. As has become customary, we share a more in depth review of one of the cigars we smoked. Today that sicker is the Hammer + Sickle Hermitage that was part of the June Care Package. Cigar: Hermitage No.1 Wrapper: Ecuador Habano Binder: Honduran Criollo Filler: Honduras, Germany Length: 6″ Ring: 54 Size: Churchill The Look: As a traditionalist the size name bothers me but I […]

Hammer + Sickle Tradicion Salomon Cigar Review

The cigar industry lost Eric Hanson of Hammer + Sickle this week. With my friend having his wake tonight I opted to revisit this review of one of my favorite cigars from his company. It was a tough loss and my wife and I were devastated to hear the news. For me, Eric was one of the funniest guys I ever met. He instantly lit up a room when he walked into to it. But […]
