Review | Avanti Parodi

Last night while watching the Boston Bruins at my local watering hole, some of my friends challenged me to review a Parodi. Without really thinking things through, I accepted the challenge. I got to thinking, wondering how many people would review a Parodi and I thought to myself not many. At the end of the day if we can’t poke fun at ourselves, then we take the cigar review way to serious. What we do […]

Review | La Flor Dominicana Oro

Upon looking up information on this cigar I was surprised to see how little information the website offers on it where it simply states, “The words “refined power” shine through this cigar like the gold tubes that encase them. A true powerhouse backed with extraordinary flavor.” Oro translate to Gold, and the La Flor Dominica comes in a gold-colored tube and according to our friends at HalfWheel.com is reference to the career as a jeweler […]

Cigar Review | La Verite 2009

Over 6 years ago Pete Johnson announced that he would be incorporating an idea from the wine industry. The idea, was to incorporate tobacco from one farm of one vintage into a cigar. The La Verite 2009 was rolled in 2010 and release in 2011. This changed the aging process as instead of aging in bales, the tobacco has aged in the form of a cigar. This 2009 La Verite was limited to 30,000 cigars. […]

In honor of Miguel Schoedel being hired as the National Sales manager of Roberto P. Duran we decided to review the Roberto P. Duran cigar. Let’s face it you hear the name and the first thing you wonder, is the boxer in the cigar business. The answer is no, that this Roberto Duran has a history in the tobacco industry that dates back to 1928 in Cuba. I first smoked the Azan Burgandy at an event in […]

Review | Guillermo Leon Preferidos

Founded in 1903, La Aurora is the first factory of the Dominican Republic. It has been owned by the Leon Family since its inception. Eventually the factory became a part of Grupo Leon, the largest company in the Dominican Republic with annual profits around 600 million dollars. In 2011, La Aurora was purchased outright by Guillermo Leon, a person I am lucky enough to call a friend and a mentor. For me, my journey into the […]

Cigar Review | Straight Jacket by Asylum

As I was sitting down to write this review of the Straight Jacket I realized how I have a lot of favorites in the industry. Over the next 3 days at Two Guys Smoke Shop, 2 of my real favorites will be at our 3 locations. Tom Lazuka and Lauren Ferraro. Tom is one of those guys who you would love to sit at a bar with and watch a ballgame, even if he cheers […]

Cigar Review | Long Live The King

When I moved up north from Florida my friend Jaclyn Sears of Caldwell Cigar Co. hooked me up with samples of the then forthcoming releases from Caldwell Cigar Co including Long Live the King. It was then that I first smoked today’s cigar which when I reviewed it for another site I labeled it as the best cigar I smoked all year. A lot has changed since then as I have gotten my palate back […]

Cigar Review | Tatuaje TAA 2014 Release

I’ve always been a cigar geek, and it annoys Mr. Jonathan to no end. If it’s a new stick I want to smoke it, usually just once, 2-3 times if I will review it. That makes me the worst cigar customer in the world. There is no brand loyalty from me, and that makes me a bad customer. Why you may is? The answer is simple, when I jump from brand to brand, I am part […]

Cigar Review | Davidoff Nicaragua Diadema

A new size of the Davidoff Nicaragua was introduced at the trade show in Las Vegas this year. The diadema is a salomon shaped cigar that the Davidoff website describes as, “This elegant shape is the continuation of the Nicaragua journey. The beautiful Davidoff Nicaragua Diadema provides from the beginning a complex and balanced smoking experience, offering sweet and salty stimulation with some leather notes and a long aftertaste. The new format is aligned with […]
