Yet another municipality is going smoke free and this time it is n Waxahachie, TX which is a suburb in Dallas. The city council voted on Monday to pass the new ordinance 4-1.
The ordinance prohibits smoking inside of most businesses, public buildings, city owned facilities, nursing homes, within 25 feet of most public gathering areas, places of employment to include common areas such as break rooms and elevators.
According to a spokesperson for the American Heart Association a petition book in support of the law collected 3,009 signatures.
Considering the city has a population of just over 29,000 this seems like the wants of the few outweighing the majority. So much for a democratic society.
