The Littleton City Council last week passed new measures that will place restrictions on smoking in the downtown area. According to the Littleton Independent, Council Member Debbie Brinkmann, “I just don’t see a place for smokers on Main Street.”
Beginning January 1st of next year, smoking will be restricted to public alleys, private parking lots and rear patios if the owners deem it so. The ban affects the downtown area include Rio Grande Street, Santa Fe Drive, Alamo Avenue and Powers Avenue.
Excluded from the ban are private business not open to the public with less than three employees.
Three members of the City Council voted against the ban which just barely passed.
