Back in February the House and Senate introduced bills to raise the tobacco purchase age to 21. On March 19th, both bodies passed their respective bills but there was a difference that needed to be ironed out. That difference was wan exemption that would allow military members under the age of 21 to purchase tobacco with a military ID.
Today the House amended their version of the bill allowing the exemption which is a big deal considering Maryland is home to the Naval Academy.
The bill now heads to the desk of Republican Governor Larry Hogan who has not yet said if he plans to sign the bill.
