The island state of Tasmania, which is part of the Commonwealth of Australia has had a politician propose a bill which could change the tobacco landscape forever with a new International precedent.
The bill which will be introduced to the upper house next month will make it illegal for anyone born in and after the year 2000 to purchase tobacco. The law won’t make it illegal to smoke, but purchasing the product will be illegal for the duration of their lifespan.
The proposal has the backing of a Boston’s Northeastern University law professor Dick Maynard. who says is if the bill is adopted with will be a big boost for efforts in the US and elsewhere.
