On Wednesday, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox a Democrat announced that he passed an executive order banning tobacco on city property. Tobacco products will be banned at all facilities, grounds, and parking areas that are owned or leased by the city and the measure will go into effect on January 1, 2016.

Rhode Island, Utah and Hawaii have proposed raising the tobacco age and while Hawaii is a signature away from going into effect none have passed yet.
