In 2012, My Father Cigars released La Duena, a Spanish name for The Owner. The My Father website tells the story for La Duena as, “For many years Janny Garcia has worked side by side with her father Don Pepin Garcia and her brother Jaime Garcia in building the family company. After honoring Don Pepin with the My Father Cigar and Jaime with the Jaime Garcia Reserva Especial, the time has come for La Duena (meaning female […]

This week our friend Rudy from Canada who is in our chat room every Saturday as “cigarsonist” during the live broadcast of our podcast is in town for Two Guys Smoke Shop 30th Anniversary shindig tomorrow night. Having heard on the show that I’ve been looking for a Cuban lancero he brought with him two as a gift. One of which was today’s review which is one of three cigars on my bucket list. The […]
This morning Bob Moreno and Edgar of La Palina Cigars rolled through the offices of The Cigar Authority this morning en route to a meeting and as usually some goodies were brought for us to smoke one of which is the Lancero which will be featured as today’s review. According to the La Palina website, “The La Palina Classic is a noteworthy blend that will become a staple in your humidor. This medium-bodied cigar has […]
This weekend on The Cigar Authority we will discuss the winners of The 2015 Cigar Trophy Awards as presented by Cigar Journal magazine. Last year it feels as if the awards were dominated by Flor de Selva and Maya Selva Cigars who this year began to make a push to improve their footprint in the American market. The company which is headed by Maya Selva, a Franco-Honduran; began selling cigars in France in 1995 and […]
While The Cigar Authority is collectively the team of David Garofalo; Mr. Jonathan Barbeau, Chuck Morrison and yours truly; the blog sometimes takes on a personal note as it is my style of writing. Today’s cigar reflects on that. This week it was announced that Charlie Lopez was named Director of Sales for Boutique Blends and as luck would have it he showed up at the offices of The Cigar Authority just the other day. Living in […]
First off let me say that I consider myself a Cigar Geek. I embrace the term and even though some people think of it as a bad thing, I believe it to be a fair description. Cigar Geeks like myself seek cigars like the one in todays review, because of the size, a Lancero and the unique nature. However, many stores no longer carry the smaller ring gauge cigars because they do not sell. I believe it […]

With one of my co-workers on vacation this week I’ve become to go to guy in mail order at Two Guys Smoke Shop and for some reason there seems to be a run on Davidoff Cigars today especially the Classic and Thousand Series. So when the mood struck for a Lancero smoke, I opted to smoke, you guessed it, a Davidoff. According to the website, “Classic No. 1’s Panetela Larga format allows an abundance of […]
According to a post from Christian Eiroa the Asylum Ogre Lancero is coming soon and measures 7 x 38. His post, “How is it that I let Mr. Tom Lazuka talk me into these silly 38 x 7 cigars?! I hate making them, I really do. I am convinced Tom Lazuka does it just to get under my skin. So, coming very soon, the OGRE Lancero.” We reached out to Tom Lazuka to find out […]
