San Francisco, CA Raising Tobacco Age To 21

For cigar smokers, this is not a San Francisco treat. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to raise the purchase age for tobacco from 18 to 21. The ordinance applies to all tobacco products sold in the city limits and includes cigars, smokeless tobacco and e-cigarettes as well. As a bill in Oregon moves through the legislative process, SB 663 has mutated considerably that would impose draconian laws that in the short and long-term will hurt the business of tobacco retailers thus damaging the American dream. Currently in the Health & Human Services committee is bill S.B. 648 which would raise the minimum purchase of tobacco in the state of Texas from 18 to 19.
