Law | Santa Clara County, CA Bans Flavored Tobacco

Santa Clara County, California which includes cities such as Cupertino and San Jose has become the first jurisdiction in the western Unites States to ban the sale of flavored tobacco. The Board of Supervisors approved the new law on Tuesday night that prohibits general retailers from selling flavored tobacco in unincorporated areas within the county. The US Patent and Trademark Office has sent notice to Santa Cruz cigars, the makers of Gran Habano. The Trademark office states that Gran Habano has mislead the public via use of the word Habano. In the document they believe that the company is attempting to mislead the public into believing they are selling cigars from Cuba.
