West Virginia To Vote On Tobacco Tax Hike *UPDATED*

Earlier this year, West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin proposed raising the tobacco tax on cigarettes and other tobacco products which includes cigars. West Virginia Governor Proposes a 42% Cigar Tax Increase

In 2015, a similar measure to raise the cigar tax in West Virginia failed. However, as we reported back in September the measure was expected to return in 2016. That time has come as Democrat Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has proposed raising the tobacco tax 42%. Law | Barbour County, WV Strengthens Smoking Ban

In Barbour County, West Virginia it will soon be harder to enjoy a legal product. Beginning on October 1, 2014 Barbour County will be come the 28th county to enact a smoking policy that will make it illegal to smoke in places of work, public parks and 20 feet from building entrances. Barbour Country is home to 16,000 residents over 343 square miles and was chartered in 1844.
