Less than 24 hours after the Senate passed the Tobacco 21 law, Washington Democrat Governor Jay Inslee announced via Twitter he will sign the bill making Washington the 9th State to pass such a law.

The Tobacco 21 bill started in the House as bill H.B. 1074 where it passed by a 66-30 vote before it moved to the senate where it passed by a 33-12 vote.

Washington now joins California, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, Utah and Virginia in raising the tobacco purchase age to 21.
