In Massachusetts, Lee, Lenox and Stockbridge fall under the Tri-Town Board of Health and on October 19th the Board is expected to vote on raising the tobacco age to 21 joining 74 other towns and municipalities in the state.
If the measure passes as expected the age hike would be phased in over 3 years with one year increments on January 1st in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Also up for consideration at the meeting will be revisions that cap the amount of tobacco permits and the setting of a minimum price on single cigar sales.
