Cigar Review: Aging Room Quattro Nicraragua
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Length: 5″
Ring Gauge: 50
Size: Espressivo (Robusto)
The Look: The Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua comes packaged in an orange box which stands out on the shelf. Inside sits 20 cigars featuring a dual band with the brand name serving as the primary and Nicaragua as the secondary. The Nicaraguan wrapped is a medium brown color with almost no veins present. There is some oils visible on this box pressed beauty with a well packed foot.
The Notes: The cold draw is sweet and chewy with nuances of plums and figs. The aroma off the foot of the cigar is earthy with a touch of cedar. Once the cigar is lit, notes of pepper fill the air creating a spicy aroma.
As we smoke the first third notes of chocolate envelope the palate along with almonds and espresso. As we approach the end of the first third the sweetness disappears as espresso becomes the dominant profile with a touch of earth on the finish. The retrohale enhances the almonds but also adds a touch cedar and pepper to the mix.
As we start the second third cedar begins to increase before falling back off around the halfway point. Notes of earth and nuts are dominant with a finish that is moderate in length. The retrohale offers up some continued nuttiness and a touch of caramel sweetness.
The last third of the cigar sees cedar become the main profile of the cigar with growing pepper on the aroma and retrohale of the cigar. There is some subtle nuttiness on the finish along with hints of dark chocolate.
The Finish: This exceptionally smooth cigar has a nice complexity of easily definite notes. It’s also a departure from other Quattro lines with the factory change to AJ Fernandez while the other lines are made by Jochy Blanco in the Dominican Republic. The result is a memorable cigar that is quite enjoyable.
