Aladino Santi by JRE Tobacco Cigar Review

Aladino Cigars come to us from JRE Tobacco which is a family centered company, founded by Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo M. Eiroa whom happen to be the father and brother of Christian Eiroa. The cigars comes from their crop to shop operation in Honduras, and for those old enough to remember the original Camacho brand, it is not difficult to see the similarity.

Cigar Review: Aladino
Wrapper: Honduran Corojo
Binder: Honduran Corojo
Filler: Honduran Corojo
Length: 5.5
Ring Gauge: 32
Size: Petit Panatela

The Look: The Aladino comes packaged in a traditional cedar box of 50 cigars. Inside, the cigar band reminds me of a cross between the old Camacho Havana and Camacho Corojo bands. The cigar comes to us from the Eiroa family, though it is distributed and created under the umbrella of JRE Tobacco.  Instead of a C, the cigar features the letter A for Aladino and the name Julio R. Eiroa (JRE) who is the father of Christian Eiroa. On the side of the band it denotes 1947-1961 which was the golden era of Cuban tobacco that this cigar was created in homage of.

The Notes: The cold draw of the cigar reveals a flavor that reminds me of warm cream soda with hints of cedar with the same notes mimicked from the foot of the cigar. Once the cigar was lit the first note of the cigar was that of cedar. As we work into the cigar there is a subtle sweetness that reminds me of vanilla and pineapple. There is also a subtle spice present as well especially on the retrohale where is his also hints of orange rind.

Around the halfway point of this remarkably smooth and tasty Petit Panatela hints of cashews begin to emerge with continued notes of cedar and a wisp of vanilla. The finish on the cigar is moderate in length with continue nuttiness that lasts about 15 minutes.

The Finish: this is When everyone told me I needed to smoke the Aladino Santi I was hesitant due to its size. It’s funny I like a Lancero, and while this is thinner than one, I was apprehensive. Just like the 97 Rated Aladino Toro, this thing is a flavor bomb of epic proportions. It burns beautifully as you can see from the picture below and it delivers from first light to last puff without ever getting harsh.

Score: 94
Price: $5.19 / $224.99
