The All Saints Dedicacion Commandant was released in 2020 as part of All Saints Cigars’ first regular production line. This cigar is produced at Rocky Patel’s Tavicusa factory in Nicaragua.
Wrapped in a rich, dark chocolate San Andrés wrapper, this box-pressed beauty is both aesthetically pleasing and perfectly constructed. The tight seams, slight toothiness, and soft texture highlight the quality of its build.
From the start, the Commandant opens with a robust, earthy profile, delivering notes of oak wood and a distinct charcoal steak grilling essence. There’s an unexpected but enjoyable combination of pumpernickel and sesame seed flavors, reminiscent of an everything bagel, that adds complexity to the experience. A hint of leather weaves in, while subtle red pepper in the background keeps things lively. This first third sets the stage for an evolving and savory smoke.
As the burn progresses, the flavors deepen. The oak wood and barbecue steak notes intensify, joined by an increased pepper kick that adds a layer of spice to the experience. There’s a delightful sea salt dark chocolate sweetness that mingles with a new nuttiness, creating an almost dessert-like quality. The leather continues to anchor the flavor profile, providing a nice balance between savory and sweet.
In the final stretch, the Commandant delivers an even more intense experience. Earth and pepper spice dominate, with the saltiness becoming more prominent. The wood notes evolve into charred cedar, and rich black roast coffee flavors emerge. The sweetness and nuttiness from earlier in the cigar, akin to a Payday Bar, gently fade to the background, allowing the bolder, darker flavors to take center stage.
The All Saints Dedicación Commandant is a well-constructed, understated cigar that offers an impressive array of flavors. The strength gradually increases throughout the smoke, making it an excellent choice for an after-dinner indulgence, especially when paired with a nice bourbon. With plenty of complexity to explore, this cigar is a classy addition to any enthusiast’s rotation.
