As we reported live on the air last night during The Cigar Authority Broadcast, the city of Boston, Massachusetts has raised the age to buy tobacco from 18 to 21.
In an afternoon session, the Boston Board of Health unanimously voted to raise the age and becomes the 86th city in the state to pass such a measure. Our own David Garofalo said last night that on the air that he believes this will lead to the state raise the age to 21 sometime in 2016.
In other measures the Board of Health of Boston made it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to enter retail tobacco stores and bars and prohibited the sale of flavored tobacco out side of adult-only tobacco shops.
The new measure goes into effect on February 15th, 2016.
