Last week Casper, Wyoming was on the path to repeal the smoking bans in the city and following a City Council meeting yesterday the City Council changed course by allowing the public to vote on the issue at hand.
Between the next 20-60 days the city will conduct a special election where residents will vote on the two versions of the smoking ban. The first, would be a total and complete ban on smoking in buildings. The other option, will be “Smoking Ban Light” which allowed smoking in bars and private areas in buildings such as shops and nursing homes.
The move comes after a petition was started and achieved enough signatures to overturn smoking ban light.
In case you were wondering, the cost of this special election will cost taxpayers an estimated $30,000.
UPDATE: The special election to decide if smoking should be allowed in Casper bars will take place Nov. 17.
