Cigar Review: Montecristo Espada

The latest cigar from Altadis USA is the Monecristo Espada. All the tobacco used in this blend comes from the farms of Nestor Plasencia in Nicaragua. The Espada is a collaboration between Plasencia and the Altadis blending team, known as the Grupo de Maestros. The cigars come packaged in 10 count Suede boxes and the word Espada means sword which is a reference to the rapier found on the Montecristo logo. The tobaccos come from Esteli, Jalapa and Ometepe. Cigar Review: Perdomo Double Aged Vintage

Sitting in The Cigar Authority offices Mr. Jonathan let me know about the new Perdomo Double Aged Vintage 12 Years and I was hoping he would bring back a sample from IPCPR. However, we didn’t have to wait long as Perdomo sent us a nice rocks glass with a cigar sample of the new Connecticut. The cigars will only be released to 250 of the finest tobacconists world-wide. According to a letter that came with […]

Cigar Review: Hammer & Sickle Tradicion 6 x 60

I’ve had this cigar sitting on my desk for over a week now and I was dreading smoking it. Not because of the specific cigar but because of the specific size. I for one have not embraced the 6 x 60 madness that has taken over the cigar world. According to the Hammer & Sickle website, “We chose the Hammer + Sickle icon to represent our brand as our story uniquely matches the history of […]

Review: Quesada 40th Corona Clasica

Today’s cigar, the Quesada Corona Clasica is the epitome of a limited edition cigar. The 40th Anniversary from Quesada was blended by the daughters of Manuel Quesada at the MATASA factory in the Dominican Republic and was unveiled back at Pro Cigar earlier this year. Manuel Quesada then blended a limited edition version of the 40th for himself that he shared with a few select accounts. Yesterday, I was informed that this cigar will be a […]

After spending the better part of Tuesday putting The Cigar Authority through a redesign, it was time to kick back with a good cigar for review  here on the site. We opted for the Davidoff Puro D’oro and invite you to leave a comment below as to your thoughts about the change. Cigar Review: Aging Room F55 Quattro

According to the Boutique Blends website, the Aging Room F55 Quattro is limited to a yearly production of 400,000 cigars. In Cigar Afficionado it scored a 95 rating and here in the United States it was basically Cigar of the Year. The Sumatra wrapper used on this smoke was being aged since 2003 by a German manufacturer that was going to use it for  special release. However the project was scrapped due to economic reasons […]

Cigar Review: Macanudo Vintage 1988

A lot of us began smoking with Macanudo, and for whatever the reason we all drifted away from it over time. I would love to hear what you smoked as your first cigar in our comments section, so please share.. Today’s smoke was gifted to me by host of The Cigar Authority, David Garafolo. The cigar was so aged that the cello it came wrapped in was yellow. I am told this cigar is from […]

Cigar Review: Las Calaveras EL 2014

As featured on The Cigar Authority Radio Show…. Limited Edition cigars. Do you love them or hate them let us know in the comments. For me it is love/hate. If the cigar is something I am crazy about, then I hate the fact that I can’t get them any more. Las Calaveras from Crowned Heads comes out of the My Father factory in Esteli, Nicaragua and is limited to 1,000 boxes per size of which there […]

Cigar Review: Via Havana Corojo

The one thing I have learned in my travels is that depending where you are in the United States, or the World for that matter is how different the shelves look inside a brick & mortar. When I lived in Florida I missed the diversity of the shelves inside the cigar lounges throughout New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Now that I am up in New England as part of The Cigar Authority team […]
