According to a Davidoff press release, “To enhance the excitement of the Davidoff Black Band Collection in 2022, the Davidoff Master Blenders created a unique cigar combining the best of the lines’ landmark tobaccos. The result is a cigar with remarkable flavors for the progressive explorer, addressing aficionados who are open to discover new taste experiences. The Limited Edition 2022 blend highlights the three landmark tobaccos of the Black Band Collection (Escurio, Nicaragua & Yamasa) and delivers complex, intense and unique flavors. This cigar unites the sweet and spicy Brazilian tobacco of the Escurio; fiery, bitter-sweet tobacco of the Nicaragua; and complex, earthy Dominican tobacco from Yamasá.”
Cigar Review: Davidoff Limited Edition 2022

Length: 5.5″
Ring Gauge: 58

The Look: Packaged in black 12 count boxes, the Davidoff Limited Edition does little to separate itself from other Davidoff black label cigars on the shelf. Inside the cigars are lade out in two rows of 6. They feature two bands, the primary showcasing the Davidoff black label logo, while the simple secondary band denotes Limited Edition 2022. The Ecuador wrapper is flawless with minimal veins and a nice amount of oils.
The Notes: The cold draw serves up notes of leather with a subtle amount of wood and spice while the aroma from the foot serves up a dark chocolate sweetness along with a hint of coffee beans.
Once the cigar is toasted and lit there is a subtle caramel sweetness on the first couple of draws. As the sweetness pulls back the cigar begins to take on that quintessential Davidoff profile of earth, hay and cedar. Additionally as the cigar smokes it sees some added complexity with some rawhide and chili peppers. The retrohale is smooth with hints of coffee and wood.
As we move on to the second third notes of litchi nuts become dominant with hints of cedar and pine. Just as we cross over the half way point a rich coffee component is added to the mix. The cigar is incredibly smooth and balanced while the retrohale adds some more nuttiness to the experience and elongates the finish of the cigar.
As we conclude the Davidoff Limited Edition 2022 the spice kicks up a notch in the form of red pepper flakes where it is joined by notes of fudge alongside a long cedar finish. The retrohale of the cigar adds some leather intensity to the experience.
The Finish: Aside from the size, which is outside my preferred smoking choice, this might be the best Limited Edition to date. It’s wonderfully rich and complex, taking on the notes of the three lines it’s inspired by. Despite the size, I find myself wanting to keep some of these on hand because they are that good.
