Davidoff Escurio Petit Robusto Cigar Review
According to Davidoff the Escurio is inspired by Rio, the soul of Brazil, and in the rhythms, intrigue, and rich experiences of its nights. And, just like an adventurous evening in this vibrant city, this complex and original cigar will carry you along on a taste adventure with unexpected twists and turns.
Today we choose to fire up the Petit Robusto a cigar that is even smaller then the name implies. It’s our choice due to the cold weather of winter and the fact that many of our spouses won’t let us smoke indoors.
Cigar Review: Davidoff Escurio
Wrapper: Ecuador Habano
Binder: Brazil Cubra
Filler: Brazil Cubra, Brazil Mata Fina, Dominican Republic San Vicente, Dominican Republic Hybrid Olor/Piloto, Dominican Republic Piloto
Ring Gauge: 50
Size: Petit Robusto
The Look: The Davidoff Escurio comes packaged in 12 count slide top boxes that are black in color and utilize the colors of Brazil in a crescent shaped logo. The Habano wrapper has a nice amount of oils to it with some thing veins. In the hand the cigar is firm to the touch with no soft spots and a well packed foot and despite the size the stick has a nice weight to it.
The Notes: The cold draw of the cigar has a bit of earth to it with a subtle note that reminds me of kale. Off of the foot of the Ecurio there is a subtle sweetness and more earthy components.
Once the cigar is lit there’s a lot of flavor for a cigar so small. There are notes of oak, earth and spice right off the first light of the cigar.
As we move into the short format smoke there is an abundance of flavor and despite the size the cigar never gets hot. There are notes of salt, oak, licorice and earth. The oak starts off as the dominant component which transitions to licorice before moving back to oak. The duration of the cigar sees notes of earth and salt linger in the background creating a base for this wonderful smaller cigar.
The Finish: Iw as really surprised about how flavorful this cigar was consider it only measured 3.25 x 50. While I wouldn’t associate the flavors with Rio, I definitely associate the cigar with Davidoff. It’s a great quick smoke that is perfect for when the time is short.
