Dos Hombres Dominican Lonsdale – Cigar Review

Bundle cigars. What comes to mind when you hear those words? Maybe “gross” or “nasty”… I’ll admit I’ve thought for a long time that cigars under the $4.00 price point weren’t even worth my time, because how can something that cheap be good? Now that I work for Two Guys Smoke Shop, I had to find out for myself on how the Dos Hombre line of bundle cigars could be the #1 best seller in the store.

What am I smoking?

Packaging & Design
Dos Hombre come packaged in bundles of 20 cigars. There is a sticker on the front side featuring the Two Guys logo with “Dos Hombre” inside of a smoke cloud above an image of the shops founders. However, that logo is famous throughout the country and gives the package some great brand recognition.

First Impressions
As I’m looking at the cigar, I notice hardly any seems or veins. The light Connecticut shade wrapper is near flawless. It has an even pack and the caps are laid on the head nicely. After cutting, I was able to pick up on notes of aged tobacco and a brown sugar like sweetness. There’s also a slight hint of cedar present.

The Smoke
This Dos Hombre lonsdale lit fairly quickly with my torch lighter. The first few puffs offered up quite a bit of smoke that carried nuances of sweet cream, toffee bars and toasted walnuts.

During the second third, I began to notice more notes of white pepper through the nose which balanced out the natural sweetness of the filler tobaccos. It’s sitting comfortably on the mild side of the spectrum, and is pairing nicely with my usual cup of espresso coffee.

Finishing up on the Dos Hombre Dominican lonsdale, I’ve finished my coffee and switched to water. Hints of leather and straw begin to take over with a backbone of cedar and sugarcane. The pepper has sailed off, leaving behind a solid creamy mouthfeel.

Final Thoughts
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting all that much out of this cigar. However, not only did it have a consistently good taste, it had spot on construction and draw as well. Out of the dozens of options to choose from, I went with the lonsdale size because that is by far my favorite size when looking for something to smoke. I was very impressed that a cigar that costs under $4.00 could satisfy me as much as it did. Give it a shot next time you decide to restock your humidors.
