Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Announces Future Releases

As we know, Steve Saka’s Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust has plans to release a new vitola in the Sobremesa line at IPCPR in Las Vegas. Those plans were made official with a letter to retailers today.

According to the email the Elegante en Cedros will be a cedar sleeved 7 x 50 parejo that comes packaged in 13 count boxes. The blend will be a tweaked version of the El Americano and Cervantes Fino. According to Saka, “The liga is finalized and the cigars are currently in production at JDN, so it will be available soon after the show – estimated delivery to our Select Purveyors will be Week 2 of August.” Pricing has yet to be finalized.

Also listed on Sobremesa info sheets has been a vitola called Diademas Deluxe and Saka has informed purveyors he has ordered a sample mold for a diadema that he made himself out of hardwood. Translation, this size won’t be seen to 2017 at the earliest.

Lastly in Sobremesa news, Saka has finalized a blend on an unplanned vitola that he calls “Short Churchill” or “Churchill Corto.” There are currently no plans to sell it, but Saka has begun sharing the cigar with some people at herfs and is exploring the idea of releasing it in the future.

In other news fans of Liga Privada should be happy to hear that Steve Saka has begun working with Broadleaf wrapper and is hoping to introduce the new cigar at IPCPR. The cigar was originally slated to be under the Todos Los Dias banner, but trademark issues have scrapped the name.

According to Saka, “My hope is to introduce this cigar at this year’s IPCPR, but I am uncertain if this is going to come to fruition by this deadline. There is ALOT to be done before this can happen now that my Todos Los Dias design is a problem and time is running out.

Saka is said to be working on the cigar closely with Oliva Tobacco Co. and NACSA in Esteli alongside their master cigar maker, Raul Disla. The new frontmark is expected to medium-full with an earthy and spicy style of smoke.

Lastly, as for “Sin Compromiso” which was named as a potential release for Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, the brand won’t be released until 2017 at the earliest as Saka has just begun blending and sourcing the tobaccos for that release.
