In the central southern part of Massachusetts sits the town of Hopedale that voted in a ban late November to prohibit smoking in town parks, playgrounds, beaches and swimming areas.
The regulation which includes cigars and electronic delivery units carries fines ranging from $100 $300.
The measure which was voted in by the Board of Healthy comes as the town received numerous complaints about the use of bongs at Town Park and Hopedale Pond.
The measure was passed 2-0 with one member abstaining.
