Law: Arlington, WA Park Smoking Ban

The city of Arlington, WA moved one step closer to becoming smoke free on the 11th of August as city staff presented a proposed law to ban tobacco from city parks.

The law which has been discussed since 2006, but was not formally introduced until this week will allow police to detain those who are suspected of crimes.

Council member Debora Nelson added that an infraction would be the same level as a parking ticket, it wouldn’t be on you criminal record. A second offense would be considered a misdemeanor though.

Infractions will range in a fine from $25 to $250.
