Law: Cambridge, MA Bans Tobacco in Public Housing

On August 1, 2014 Cambridge, MA put into effect a policy that prohibits the use of tobacco on the properties of the Cambridge Housing Authority.

The policy affects the authority’s 2,700 low-income public housing and prohibits the use of tobacco inside homes, buildings, and anywhere on-site. According to the House Authority, the purpose was to prevent secondhand smoke, which has been disproved by the American Cancer Institute.
