Law | Somerton, AZ Bans Park Smoking
The city of Somerton, AZ is turning its public parks, all three of them into tobacco-free zones. However, the city is not penalizing anyone who does light up. This could change if people continue to light up when visiting the parks.
The Somerton City Council passed the new measure with a unanimous vote that was proposed by the Youth Anti-Tobacco Coalition which makes me once again wonder how those who aren’t old enough to vote are able to bring forth proposals to change laws.
Somerton is the second city in Yuma County, joining San Luis.
Somerton, Arizona is home to 15,000 residents over 1.3 square miles and was established in 1898.
