New Hampshire Rep  Proposes Removal of Smoking Bans

New Hampshire Representatives Robert Hull (R-District 09) and Lino Avellani (R-District 05) have introduced and sponsored House Bill 279 (“HB 279”) in the General Court that would make changes to the New Hampshire Indoor Smoking Act .

Under the bill, HB 279 would remove the prohibition on smoking public conveyances that are privately owned, as well as restaurants, grocery stores, and cocktail lounges.

In drafting the bill, Representative Hull stated, “It’s a property-rights issue…should the state be deciding what people do inside of private establishments? They are public places, but they are owned by private people, and the owner of the property should decide what’s going on.”
