The New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio who is expected to be a one term mayor has proposed a new rule to ban smoking at home.
The Mayor who has had city police officers turn their backs on him is offering four different health groups $9,000 each to start pressuring landlords to implement the bans which was initially reported by the New York Post.
While the proposal right now is voluntarily that could change as de Blassio has stated in the blueprint “One New York: The Plan for a Strong and Just City” that the city of New York “will work to pass legislation requiring multi-unit housing to have a smoking policy and to disclose it to residents and prospective residents.”
The plan has origins with the former administration under Mayor Bloomberg.
