The New York Tobacconists Association will be holding its first annual Stogathon, a fundraising event to benefit the organization’s legislative initiatives in Albany. The cigar dinner will take place Tuesday, July 24 at Water’s Edge Restaurant in Long Island City, New York.
Founded in 2012, the NYTA is an activist organization of New York’s tobacconists formed to battle anti-tobacco taxation and legislation on both the state and local level.
“The Stogathon is the New York Tobacconists Association’s first annual fundraiser,” said NYTA president Ron Melendi. “The purpose of the event is to raise money so that the professional tobacconists can have their voices heard in Albany, that these small businesses are suffering because of excessive taxation and a full-out frontal attack on these businesses.”
Guests of the Stogathon will enjoy a cocktail hour, passed hors d’oeuvres, a sit-down dinner, silent auction and a waterside view of the Manhattan skyline while they puff on premium brands the entire time from Alec Bradley, Camacho, Cusano, Davidoff, Drew Estate, La Aurora, La Flor Dominicana, Nat Sherman, Nestor Miranda, Pepín García, Perdomo, Quesada, Rocky Patel and Tatuaje.
Tickets are $250 per person, though early birds can save $25 per ticket if purchased before June 30.
